Mission

Hello, my name is Larry Cloyes and I am an artist. I start the creative process with a sketchbook. When a subject catching my attention, I quickly open my sketchbook and begin rendering. After this recording, I paint using the sketch as a reference.

With my work, I focus on common subjects such as trees and fields. Basically, I want to tell an emotional story using common observations.  My story focuses on the transcendentalist qualities of perseverance, innocence, redemption, and strength.

Using strong and bold lighting, I might place a single tree in a vast field.  With this image, I want to convey more than an image of a tree.   I want to convey the message of strength, of individuality, of steadfastness. Art is more than painting beautiful things.

Every word, act, or creation of a person reveals the soul of the person. Furthermore all creations, which are enjoyed, reveal the soul of the observer.  So, if a viewer is emotionally moved by art that upholds the virtues of perseverance and innocence, then the viewer has an unrelenting innocent soul.  In the end, I want viewers of my art not to realize the beauty of a tree standing proudly in a vast field. I want viewers to realize the beauty within themselves.
